Poch participates in the pre-feasibility engineering studies for the high voltage electrical supply and for the Truck Shop.
Description of the Project:
Norsemont Mining Inc. is a Canadian exploration and development company exclusively centered in Minera Constancia (copper-silver-molybdenum minerals). Located in the southern plateau of Peru, Constancia is one of the first independent projects in an advanced development phase in this country.
The project feasibility study to be completed in April 2009, has a present net value of US$ 530 million with an internal return rate of 25.3% assuming a value of US$1,8 per copper pound, US$12 per molybdenum pound , US$11 per silver ounce, and considering a production of 90 thousand tons of copper per year.
Our importance:
Through SRK Consulting, Poch had the responsibility of the electrical feasibility engineering for: the electrical supply, high voltage lines layout, substations and medium voltage distribution lines. The preliminary study included an estimated average demand of 50 MW and a consumption of 25 GWh per month.
Poch developed the profile engineering for the following specialties: civil, architecture, sanitary, mechanics and piping, electrical and instrumentation for the Truck Shop of the mine, with a capacity of 6 trucks, including 1 washing station and 5 maintenance ones for the vehicles with a total surface of 1600 m2. Office buildings, washing drainage area, tires and maintenance warehouse were integrated to the scope.
Essential benefit:
Being an engineering multidisciplinary consulting company, Poch made it possible for Minera Constancia to obtain the profile engineerings, time and cost estimations, for the investments required regarding the electrical supply, transmission lines, substations, distribution lines and Truck Shop, based on criteria, costs and previous designs done in Chile.
