Poch develops the Basic and Detail Engineering of a new process to obtain direct lithium chloride.
Description of the Project:
The Sociedad Chilena de Litio (SCL) was formed in 1980. Today it is a member of the international group Chemetall. SCL developed for several years a new process to obtain lithium chloride. Once investigation finished, the client decides to implement this new process in a major scale, by building a plant of 10 million pounds/year.
Our importance:
Poch participates in the development of Basic and Detail Engineering in all the specialties of the project, also participating in the management of equipment and procurement, of the tender of construction works and the Mechanical assembly.
The implementation of this project implied intervening an existing operating plant, with high complexity engineering development because all the designs took into account intervening as little as possible with the plant’s production. In addition, this project implied implementing, at a great scale, processes and technologies never tested before, making this project a completely new engineering challenge.
Poch also participates in the development of the environmental impact declaration of the project, allowing our client to operate the plant with all its permits to date.
Essential benefit:
The construction of this project was finished in 2007, being the Sociedad Chilena del Litio the only lithium chloride producer in the world with a process of these characteristics, much more efficient and fast, leaving our client with several comparative advantages over its competitors.
